Subject: Weather/Power Outage Event 3/14/10

Due to the severe weather our Township has been experiencing power outages for the past 24 hours as a result of this current weather wide event.

Our Township Administration has been working closely with Jersey Central Power Light and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management.

Our Administration is aware of all reported power outages and working as quickly as possible to have power restored.

If you are aware of anyone with special needs, on life support equipment, oxygen or medication requiring refrigeration. Please Contact out general Police dispatch number at 973-887-0432.

Our Office of Emergency Management Team, Police, Fire, Health, Public Works and First Aid Squad have been working continously to mee the needs of our residents.

2010 Municipal Budget

The Township Council will conduct a hearing on the 2010 Municipal Budget on April 12th at 7pm in Town Hall.

School Board Election

April 20, 2010 - Polls open at 2pm and close at 9pm
Districts 1, 3, 5 & 6 vote at Central School
Districts 2,4,7 & 8 vote at Hanover Park High School
Last day to register for this election is March 30, 2010

Primary Election

June 8, 2010 - Polls open at 6am and close at 8pm
Change of Party Affiliation Form needs to be filed at the Superintendent of Elections before April 19, 2010
Voter registration deadline for this election is May 18, 2010

         Are You Ready? An In-depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness (IS-22) is FEMA’s most comprehensive source on individual, family, and community preparedness. The guide provides the public with a step-by-step approach to disaster preparedness with the most current and up-to-date disaster preparedness information available.

  The Are You Ready?  Program will prepare you to develop and maintain an Emergency Family Communication Plan and give you the knowledge on how to prepare an Emergency Disaster Supply Kit. You will also be exposed to different terminologies and signs involving manmade disasters and natural disaster; i.e., fire, floods and other weather-related events, hazmat incidents and terrorism. Other topics covered will be Turing Off Utilities, Household Chemical Emergencies, Care of People with Special Needs, Fire Escape Plans, Family Communication Plan, Animal Care During a Disaster and much more. 

Program will be held at the East Hanover Fire Headquarters on 03/15/2010 located at: 323 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover , NJ .
